I really loved reading this Holly - I went the other way, to Australia from England, and I have been unpacking my ideas around what home means to me ever since. I went back for a visit to England in May, which always brings up some complex feelings as my family background is complicated. However, some of my circumstances had changed, and it was quite a comforting experience this time around - and now you've given me the impetus to reflect on that a bit more. Thank you - and have a great Christmas!

I am incredibly lucky to be sitting in a Starbucks in New York, reading your essay and watching it rain...plus it is cold. Part of me is flinching at the thought of returning home to Perth in a few days - it was 40° yesterday 🤯- but the other part of me longs for the familiar and the easterly and my pets and my sons. Your essay speaks to my heart; thankyou Holly x
