My books

Fiction:

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart is my debut novel which was published in 2018 and went onto become an international and award-winning bestseller. Lost Flowers has been published in 30 territories and in 2019 it won the Australian Book Industry Award General Fiction Book of the Year. In 2023, a seven-episode award-winning TV series adaptation of the same name streamed globally on Prime Video, starring Sigourney Weaver. The series broke records with the biggest opening weekend viewership globally for any Australian launch. It has reached the top give in 78 countries, and top three in 42 countries.

“Ringland’s storytelling is driven by an undimmed sense of wonder at the darkness and light, the damage and love in people. It makes for a determined investigation of abuse and survival accomplished with profound sensitivity.” Sydney Morning Herald

The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding was published in 2022 and become an instant national bestseller. Booktopia named it their 2022 Book of the Year. It will be published in 15 territories, with further deals to follow.

“This intercontinental journey into joy, grief, nature and magic confirms Holly Ringland as one of Australia’s most precious, life-changing storytellers.” Booktopia

Non-fiction:

The House that Joy Built is my first non-fiction title. Published in 2023, it’s part-memoir, part-research, and part-storytelling about the pleasure and power of giving ourselves permission to create. It became a national bestseller on release and readers have called it “life-changing”. Apple Books called it a “non-fiction masterpiece”.

“A joyous gift from the heart, practical and wise. Blasts those I-can't-do-this terrors with both barrels.” Susan Johnson, author of Aphrodite's Breath

Build Your House of Joy is a pack of 48 cards for everyday creativity. While these cards are inspired by The House That Joy Built, you don’t need to read my book to use them. They can be used by anyone, especially those whose desire to create is flattened by fear. Fear of feeling vulnerable, of criticism and judgement of others, of not being good enough, of having ‘bad’ ideas, of being ‘too much’. They’re for those who are yearning to unlock the stories inside themselves and write and, more generally, these cards are for anyone who longs to create but doesn’t know how to find a way into, or back to, their imaginations.

Available now in Australia and New Zealand!

(I’m hoping to have international publication news to share with you soon.)
